Pear in Bristol: 6 units tested over 8 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Bristol.
What the label on Pear is allowed to say
Pear in Bristol reaches the shelf in pen device formats, and the online ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Pear sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running 20 mg/mL will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the pen device you buy decides how long pear tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a pear pen device really costs in Bristol
Pear prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Bristol that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within £2.28 per 10 ml.
How we tested pear in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in the UK, which is 20 mg/mL for retail here.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is 20 mg/mL in the UK, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 2–4 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where pear goes wrong
- Mixing pear with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Treating the advertised £51 entry kit as the real cost when refills run £2.28 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why pear tastes flat after two days.
